March 14, 2011 - PRLog -- A recent study showed that almost 90% of Americans are nutrient deficient.  March being National Nutrition Month is a good time to help people understand the importance of nutrition, and the effects of nutrient depletion.  States Dr. Bright McConnell, “Good nutrition is much more than being a healthy weight.  It is about preventing diseases and maintaining good health.  This is a perfect time to remind people that eating an apple a day is not enough anymore.”
How can a person tell if they are indeed lacking the nutrients needed for overall good health?  FitMed Partners offers n Advanced Nutritional Assessment that will help determine if a person is deficient, and what nutrients exactly they need to increase to achieve optimum health.  Dr. McConnell advises, “This test can benefit everyone.  People don’t realize the various health conditions that poor nutrition and nutritional imbalances can contribute to or aggravate.  A nutrient imbalance can lead to arthritis, Parkinson’s, cancer, cardiovascular disease, macular degeneration, osteoporosis and much more.”
Nutrient deficiencies can be linked to genetics, age, and metabolism.  In addition, taking prescription drugs can cause nutrient depletions.   So what if a person is nutrient deficient?   States Dr. McConnell, “This test will be our guide.  Taking a multivitamin is not enough in many cases.  In addition, there can be too much of a good thing.  Taking too many antioxidants can be counterproductive.  We will help each patient find the right balance to achieve optimum nutrition through the foods they eat and micronutrient supplements.”
