New Transfer PAL Reduces Risk of Back Injury for EMS Staff

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 11, 2011 - The new Transfer PAL designed by iTec Mfg is used to transfer patients to and from beds, cots and stretchers. Not only will it make transferring easier, it will also decrease the risk of back injuries during transfers.

“Healthcare workers now rank #1 in being at risk for musculoskeletal injuries at work,” according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, March 2004.

The Transfer PAL has a closed-cell foam padding for patient comfort and easy clean-up. A Kleen Kover, a disposable fitted sheet is available. The hard outer shell allows PAL to slide easily against all types of material. The handles enable staff to utilize a trapeze grip that allows for proper body mechanics.

“We’ve given staff the ability to greatly reduce strain when transferring, that’s why we believe this unique device to be superior to a sheet,” said Michael Wilson, designer and owner.

The design of the Transfer PAL eliminates the problem of patients rolling backwards on the sheet.

Two sizes are available – regular and bariatric.
