March 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Eureka Springs glows brightly in May with the Grand Illumination and in celebration we will be hosting the Upstairs Downtown Tour & Taste on May 1. This event will feature some of the most stunning spaces downtown and highlight the interior design and architecture. Each location will host an area restaurant and one of their specialties.

All proceeds benefit Eureka Springs Downtown Network and the work they do to provide rich resources for our business community and the visitors they serve. Tickets go on sale April 1 at Cornerstone Bank, Community First Bank Eureka Springs Branch, Arvest Bank Eureka Springs Branch, 1905 Basin Park Hotel and online at http://eurekaspringsgrandillumination.com tickets are $20 each.

“We wanted to grow the Grand Illumination to have more pieces and be a bright start to May Festival of the Arts,” shares Jacqueline Wolven, executive director of Eureka Springs Downtown Network. “The town was so stunning last year festooned with bright paper lanterns that we knew it would be grand tradition to continue. David Graupner brought the festival to Eureka Springs last year from his childhood memories of Martha’s Vineyard and it really is a perfect fit to our Victorian Arts town. Adding the tea and moving the celebration of the Grand Luminary to the heart of our downtown was a simple step to continue, what we hope will be, a beautiful ongoing tradition.”

The Eureka Springs Grand Illumination will be held from Sunday, May 1st - May 31st, 2011 when this unique Victorian town nestled high in the Ozark mountains will be aglow with thousands of Japanese and Chinese paper lanterns adorning the facades of historic downtown buildings and the porches of many of the grand Victorian homes throughout the village.

A contest will be held to award the Brightest B&B, Best Business, Honored Home and the most Unique Lantern. Prizes will be announced on May 1st as part of the Grand Luminary celebration.

The festivities continue as guests are invited to celebrate our Honored Grand Luminary in this special twilight Lighting of the Park. We will gather in Basin Spring Park to light up the night and share our good wishes with this year’s honoree. The Honoree will be announced in April.
