March 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The Samsung Galaxy S was a surprise hit for Samsung, being one of 2010's biggest selling phones alongside the iPhone 4 and HTC Desire. With a massive 4" Super AMOLED display the Galaxy S garnered a Lot Of Attention For Its Visual Prowess as well as many of the high powered apps it is able to run with ease. Several months after its initial release, the Galaxy S remains one of the most popular Android phones on offer, and even one of the biggest selling smartphones available.

The Super AMOLED screen offers one of the best displays available on a phone, and its only real competition comes from the iPhone 4's Retina Display. The screen features Gorilla Glass, a proximity sensor and multitouch input due to the capacitive technology in use. The phone originally shipped with Google Android Éclair 2.1, but a software update brought it more up to date with Android Froyo 2.2. The Google OS is combined with Samsung's TouchWiz UI that has an intuitive design and allows for Swype text input.

The Galaxy S runs on a 1GHz ARM Cortex CPU with 512MB RAM and hardware graphics acceleration. This makes it an ideal device for the many high powered apps and games available through Android Market, which can be accessed on the Galaxy S. There are many great apps included with the Galaxy S out of the box, most noticeably many of Google's top services. With Google Search, Gmail and Google Talk the Galaxy S also comes with Picasa and YouTube integration so you can share photos and enjoy streaming video content.

With high speed HSPA (3G) connections and DNLA enabled Wi-Fi the Galaxy S is fantastic for all sorts of online activities besides YouTube. It is great for general web browsing, email and even comes with instant messaging support. The Galaxy S also comes with social networking integration for Facebook and Twitter so you can more easily keep up to date with these popular online services.

The Galaxy S comes with a 5 megapixel camera with features like geo-tagging and face detection. This also features 720p video recording and a TV-Out port that allows you to watch your recorded videos through the comfort of your home TV. The DLNA on the Wi-Fi connection can also be used for this purpose, provided that your TV is also DLNA enabled. The Galaxy S also comes with a secondary front facing VGA camera which can be used for making video calls through services like Google Talk.

For entertainment the Galaxy S has a lot offer including a high degree of music and video support. There is also an FM radio with RDS for listening to music, 8 or 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded with 32GB microSD cards, and various touchscreen games that can be acquired from Android Market.

Despite being several months old the Galaxy S still packs a punch and offers serious competition to smartphones that are only just being released. This is reflected by the fact that it still remains one of the bestselling phones on the market, even with a Galaxy S 2 set for imminent release. Although the second Galaxy S promises to be even more awesome, cramming more high end features into an even smaller body, the Galaxy S will remain an excellent phone for some time to come. The Galaxy S is available in either white or black.
