Scouts receive further support from the community

March 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The coach firm have adopted the Scout Group as its charity for the year and raised £4,000 by taking part in Dragon Boat racing in Bristol’s historic harbour.

The money was presented to the 1st Nailsea Scouts by sales and marketing director Amanda Harrington. It is another step forward in the group’s aim to raise £150,000 for the new facilities.

Said Amanda Harrington: “We had a team that are usually used to coach travel so it was a bit strange rocking about in a boat in the city docks. We had 16 rowers and a drummer and took it seriously with some training involved.

“We know how important the 1st Nailsea Scout Group is to the town as there are 240 young people aged between six and 14 that use the centre. It is a wonderful facility for Nailsea and we are keen to support it in every way we can.”

Martin Weaver, chairman of the Friends of 1st Nailsea, which organises fundraising for the group, said: “We are in desperate need of redeveloping the existing Scout headquarters in Nailsea which is why we have launched this appeal. Increasing numbers of beavers, cubs and scouts are using the facilities making redevelopment essential.

“Bakers Dolphin has been supporting us for a year now and we are delighted with how much they have helped. The contribution they have made has been a real boost and greatly appreciated. Thank you to Amanda and the team for putting in such hard work to help us!”
