Cancer surgery is an invasive procedure involving the removal of a cancerous tumor. Any surgery is invasive, and all cancer surgery is traumatic - stress that cause cancer. Cancer surgery reduces the body's resistance against cancer, and thus predisposing the patient to a recurrence of the disease. Additionally, a surgical biopsy actually contributes to the spread of cancer, according to some studies.

Radiation is more harmful to cancer cells than normal cells. Although both healthy and cancerous cells are damaged by radiation, the goal of radiotherapy is to destroy some normal cells and healthy as possible during the process of radiation.
Radiation therapy may be used before surgery to shrink the tumor cancer, during surgery, large doses of radiation directly to the tumor or after surgery to prevent the growth of cancer cells remaining. Radiation therapy may also be used not only for the chemotherapy to kill cancer cells, but also to shrink tumors in order to reduce pressure, pain or other symptoms are caused.
Ulcers or sores in the mouth, throat or intestines may develop after radiation, which causes problems with eating, what affects the nutritional status of patients. In addition, patients who have undergone radiation treatment have a higher risk of developing leukemia.
