By: Lauren Herrin In this position, Blanks will oversee MGM Grand Detroit’s labor and employee relations duties, training, employment, employee services, compensation, benefits, events, recognition and human resource compliance duties. Additionally, he will develop and implement the department’s strategic plan and administer its budget. Blanks started with MGM Resorts International in 2006, serving as the Executive Director of Human Resources at MGM Grand Las Vegas. Prior to joining MGM Grand, he served for five years as Director of Human Resources for Encore Productions, also in Las Vegas, where he received the Employee Award of Excellence for outstanding service. He also has held leadership positions with Corestaff Services and Cintas Corporation and was a Training Manager with the U.S. Air Force, where he was named Employee of the Year and led the “Best Overall Training Department.” “In the past five years, Rozell Blanks has served MGM Resorts International well and with great success,” said Zanella. “We are happy to welcome him to Detroit and look forward to seeing what he will bring to the property.” The Detroit resident received a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Bellevue University in Nebraska and an Associate of Science in Training Management from the Community College of the Air Force. Blanks is originally from St. Louis. Blanks is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and served a three-year term on the society’s Labor Relations Special Expertise Panel. He is also involved in participating in community service initiatives.
