International Terms 2010 Rules, responsibilities, risks, and costs

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 9, 2011 - The newest set of international trade terms are the Incoterms 2010 rules created by the International Chamber of Commerce which define responsibilities, risks, and costs of the seller and buyer for delivery of goods under sales contracts. The new Incoterms rules take into account the latest developments in commercial practice, and update, add two new rules and deletes four of the former rules. Come January 1, 2011, the updated rules will become effective.

These trade terms provide a uniform set of rules to assist buyers and sellers in stating each party's obligations under an international contract. They streamline and remove some of the ambiguity that can occur in a contract especially when parties speak different languages. They provide a basis for dispute resolution. Jan Seal, is a Management Consultant on International Trade and a Licensed Customhouse Broker with over 35 years of experience in imports and exports. Ms. Seal is a frequent speaker/instructor at nation-wide seminars for international companies located around the world and international trade organizations. She also is a consultant for medium to multi-national companies on trade compliance. She has taught courses for Import Specialists at the National Customs Academy.

She is the author of eight books on various international trade topics.
