Las Vegas, Nevada, March 1st, 2011 - Mention the word magician, and some think of clowns with balloons and big red sponge balls, while others think of posh cosmopolitan magicians like David Blaine & Criss Angel. The three WINNERS of Las Vegas's World Magic Seminar 2011 are a mixture of all of the above mentioned.
The World Magic Seminar 2011 is a who's who of magicians and magic tricks. From Teller, from the notable dynamic duo Penn and Teller, to Banachek a consultant for Criss Angel; the World's top magicians gather together for a convention of learning and general geekery! Each year this summit of magic hosts the much loved Close-Up Contest, where a handful of performers compete for the prestigious top 3 spots as World Best Magician titles. This years contest did not disappoint.
First place winner, by 6 votes, was Kevin Vinre out of San Francisco, California. His magic selection covered the spectrum of tricks. Cards, Coins, and a grand finally in which signed cards appeared inside SEALED wine bottles! It was a huge crowd favorite which won him the top spot. Next up was corporate mind reader Scott Xavier (http://www.scottxavier.com), who made a fork melt and bend in my very hand while he read the minds of the audience. This was a personal favorite of mine for bias reasons. Third place goes to Rueben Moreland (http://www.reubenmoreland.com) who performed a spectacular card and camera effect.
Scott Xavier and Kevin Viner have started plans on a joint showcase called Mind Vs. Magic. Dates are slated for mid April in California then Illinois. This dynamic duo of magic are taking reservations for this touring show.
