Youth Job and Resource Fair at San Luis Obispo County's One-Stop Locations

March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- This April and May, the Youth Employment Program at Cuesta College will be hosting 3 Youth Job and Resource Fairs at the Business and Career One-Stop locations throughout the county.

California’s unemployment rate for teenagers is 34.4% which has increased 1.5% from last year. The more resources and confidence youth can acquire, the better chance they will have finding employment in this difficult economy. Many youth are applying for their first job and are in tough competition with experienced workers.

Local employers will be present to offer tips on interviewing, what they look for in a potential employee, job and career opportunities, and encouragement.

The first event will be held April 13th from 5-7 pm at 880 Industrial Way in San Luis Obispo, across from The Graduate.

The second and third events will be held May 4th from 5-7 pm at 2800 Buena Vista Drive in Paso Robles, on the North County Cuesta College Campus, and at 1800 East Grand Ave in Grover Beach.

Cuesta College Youth Employment Program, through the Workforce Investment Act, provides services to youth: academic tutoring, work readiness training, leadership and mentoring, paid and unpaid work experiences, job shadowing, internships, occupational skills training, supportive services and linkages to employment, post-secondary education, apprenticeship opportunities, and trade schools.
