Follow on Google News | Innovation, Flexibility And High Performance – The K4 Aquarium LED Light Creates A StormAquawave have launched the long awaited K4 aquarium LED light: A thrilling blend of advanced thermal dynamics and raw light energy mixed with a fusion of aluminium, acrylic and microprocessor technology to give stunning performance on every level
But the Aquawave K4 is so much more than a simple light engine. It looks like no other aquarium light with twin, futuristic looking modules that can cleverly be positioned together or apart using internal cable. Being able to use it as a long light or place the modules back to back to create a panel is certainly very innovative and appealing to all size aquariums including Nano tanks so it certainly wins on flexibility. But even more importantly it has inbuilt microprocessor technology, giving the K4 the intelligence to monitor its own running temperature and take full control to adjust the power to compensate for fluctuations: As a truly digital light, the K4 can be programmed by any of the Aquawave digital controllers. The unique sectional control enables visible passing clouds at varying speeds and even storms: Aquawave explained that being able to mimic true natural light with several high and low points during the day helps to create a much more balanced environment for fish and corals and it looks amazing too! Of course the brightness levels are important to those used to Metal Halide and the K4 delivers a very high 6420 lumens – more than any other commercial LED light in this price bracket. Aquawave explained that they have stayed with the choice of wide angled LED’s to maintain a very natural look of evenly spread light. This ‘floodlighting’ A big draw with Metal Halide has always been the ‘glitter lines’ rippling across the bed of the aquarium like sunshine dappling across the sand and the K4 replicates this perfectly. Aquawave’s Par level tests have proven to be very successful, meeting all of the desired levels at depths and distribution. One of the attributes to the good PAR readings is in the K4’s make up; using more than one spectrum of light and multiple light sources at the most beneficial wavelengths. The PAR readings will be published on their website but Aquawave have explained that because no two aquariums are ever the same PAR should be read and monitored in your own tank to maximise growth and health. Aquawave also assured that the K4 will be compatible with any future releases – the K4’s microprocessor technology is so advanced it is already capable of being recoded to be compatible with future controllers that have not even been designed yet. Future proofing all of their products is inherent in Aquawave’s designs and ensures that customers can confidently purchase and install a system knowing that it can evolve as new technology arrives: over the expected lifespan of ten years plus this is an exceptional benefit.
