SEM Link hosts 4th Annual STEM Career Fair & Exhibition to Expose Youth to STEM at Georgia Tech

March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- On Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 10:00am- 2:00 pm at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc (SEM Link) will host its 4th Annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibition. This event will provide K-12 students with an opportunity to explore careers and meet and interact with professionals in these fields. Georgia Tech’s Student Center Ballroom is located at 350 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA. This event is free and open to the public; however you must pre-register at http://semlinkatlstemcareerfair.eventbrite.com .
 
The STEM Career Fair and Exhibition is the signature event for SEM Link’s Math and Science Career Academy, which exposes K-12 to math and science through hands on activities, real-world applications and career exploration. The purpose of the event is to expose K-12 students to the various careers and applications in these disciplines. Exhibitors, professionals and students in these disciplines, will feature their careers, conduct hands-on demonstrations or showcase real world applications of math and science.  The event will be set up similar to a job fair in which students will visit exhibitors’ tables. “We are very excited to host this event for another year to expose Metro Atlanta youth to STEM careers” Executive Director and Founder Tokiwa Smith said. “Each year our attendees leave the event excited and engaged about STEM and we look forward to the same thing happening this year”.

SEM Link is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia, that promotes student achievement and career exploration in math and science for K-12 students by connecting them with individuals with backgrounds in science, engineering and mathematics. SEM Link has a two-core program model, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy, that provide students with opportunities to develop their math and science skills by enhancing the classroom learning experience and teaching them skills that are transferable to other areas of life.
