March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Nature Air, a Central American airline for adventure travel, inaugurated its new route from Liberia, Costa Rica, to Managua, Nicaragua, this past Thursday March 3rd. This first flight was received at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua by Mario Salinas, Nicaraguan Minister of Tourism, and Alex Khajavi, President of Nature Air.

At the event, Khajavi manifested to be very pleased with the opening of the new route and added he was “very grateful with the Government of Nicaragua for all the assistance they provided”. The airline executive assured this project will contribute in further developing both countries’ tourism sector.

The airline will be offering flights to Managua, Nicaragua, four times a week. The US$100,000 investment project will transport its passengers on a Twin Otter Bi-motor plane, which includes navigation gear, GPS navigation and Terrain Awareness Systems, and large viewing windows that offer all passengers an unobstructed view of the sites.

“Nicaragua and Costa Rica are brother nations that live side by side and share much in common as a destination. Tourism is an activity that brings us closer and allows us to work together as countries”, commented Salinas.

According to Minister Salinas, in 2010 Nicaragua received nearly 126,000 tourists from Costa Rica, approximately 14 percent of the total number of tourist that visited the country.

Nature air is the first airline in the world certified CO2 free. As part of their social corporate responsibility program, the airline is committed to compensate 100 percent of its CO2 emissions through the conservation of tropical forests in Costa Rica. Every flight contributes to the protection of the ecosystem.

Nature Air started in 1990, when two Alaska bush pilots founded Travel Air. In 2000, Travel Air was later bought by Naturegate and created what is today known as Nature Air. Nature Air has flown more than 250,000 flights in Central America and more than 110,000 passengers in 2010.
