It only takes watching ten 1-3 minute videos for a user to earn a tree planted in their name. New users can save their progress using their email address or Facebook login.
Each video is preempted by a short commercial. This advertising revenue allows myCarbonQuest to pay for the trees to be planted and to purchase the carbon credits earned by users. myCarbonQuest supports organizations such as Trees For The Future, which delivers trees to developing nations along with training on sustainable harvesting practices.
The initial concept was spurred from Quest Media Network founder Nathan Barr. Barr strived to create a service where users could support important causes by investing only their time. Rather than donating money, individuals can use myCarbonQuest to significantly benefit the Earth and its most vulnerable citizens.
