March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- It is fair to say that Blackpool is a well known holiday destination not only in the UK and Ireland but also around the world, and is known as ‘The Jewel of the North’, or some refer to Blackpool as the ‘playground of the North, or even ‘Britain’s Las Vegas’.

This ‘Jewel’ has much to offer the tourist, it is a very traditional English Victorian seaside town, boasting many attractions, such as the world famous Tower, illuminations, Old Tramway, and not forgetting The Pleasure Beach.

Britain’s favourite seaside resort has seen many changes over the last two or three decades, and although lost the traditional holiday-maker to warmer foreign destinations, is now certainly on the road to recovery in terms of tourism, this has been helped with a lot of investment from Central Government and EU funding, thus things are changing.

Blackpool is certainly a candy floss and toffee apple seaside town, which for generations has been enjoyed by the great British Public, and is now being shared with many nationalities across the world, there is nothing like the smell of fish and chips, cooked as only the British do it, also the smell of candy floss and beer, the sound of amusement machines, there is no place like it, and boasts over 14.5 million visitors each year.

The future of the Town is looking secure, with the new promenade with new developments along the seafront which has been expanded, and due to open in the summer of 2011 as an outdoor dance and performance area adding a major new attraction to the area.

There are over 3,000 hotels, guest houses and self-catering establishments in the resort, and there is no reason on god’s earth why the holiday-maker cannot find a first class B&B in Blackpool, making the perfect base to check out everything on offer for fun and entertainment.

The worlds first permanent electric street Tramway was opened in Backpool on the 29th September 1885, and is still there today, and this has over the years attracted many tram and train enthusiasts worldwide, and is it any wonder with 65 trams in service during the summer months, furthermore in the illumination season, 5 illuminated trams run in full glory, and even have names such as The Rocket, The Western Train, The Trawler, HMS Blackpool and the Hovertram.

The Blackpool Illuminations will attract in excess of 3.5 million visitors to the town this coming year, a fantastic feat, which cost £2.4 million to stage, with an amazing one million lamps in various types and styles, and more importantly it is estimated that visitors will spend more than £275 million while visiting the resort during the lights.

A spokesman for The Aberford hotel in the heart of Blackpool’s town centre said “we are proud to boast excellent bed and breakfast in Blackpool and furthermore we are a step away from all the main attractions, we offer comfort and relaxation and we think Blackpool bed and breakfast does not get any better than at The Aberford”.

It is not surprising that Blackpool is known as the ‘Jewel of the North’ is sparkles and shines like any precious gem, offering fun, fun, fun.
