CoolPass: U.S. Energy Dept. clears $102 million loan for 50.6 MW Maine wind farm.

Wagner Wind Energy and Independence Wind LLC have been offered a conditional commitment for the loan guarantee for a wind farm planned near Roxbury, Maine.

March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- The project planned for Roxbury, Maine is expected to connect new transmission lines to supply power to Central Maine Power Co., the local utility, CoolPass learned from the U.S. Energy Department recently.

The 50.6 MW Record Hill project, sponsored by the Yale University Endowment Fund, is to consist of 22 turbines each with a 2.3 MW capacity, to be supplied by German firm, Siemens AG., according to the Energy Department's statement.

“Record Hill introduces an innovative technology to the U.S. that will boost domestic wind generation and help us reach President Obama’s goal of doubling clean energy produced in America by 2035,” CoolPass believes the U.S. Energy Secretary, Steven Chu said.

“The turbines feature a system of sensors and processing software that allow them to continue to generate electricity under turbulent conditions and with reduced wear and tear.”

The Energy Department’s loan guarantee program has issued or offered conditional commitments totalling nearly $18 billion to 20 clean energy projects, according to the agency.
