March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- More than 40% of Chinese coal power plants produce energy at a financial loss. Almost half of coal power plants sell electricity below their cost.

In China, roughly 80 per cent of energy output comes from coal. in 2011 consumption is expected to rise by more than 10 per cent.

According to Beijing (Asia News / Agencies) about 43 per cent of Chinese coal power plants operated at a loss last year because of the government’s price freeze for industrial and residential energy consumption, this despite the rising cost of coal and higher interest rates.

China's National Development and Reform Commission reported that coal-fired power generation sector saw a 38.8 per cent drop in combined profit in the first 11 months of 2011.

Large financial losses are due to more expensive coal and also low boiler efficiency.

Coal use in China is increasing due to further urbanization, supported by new construction starts. China needs steel, India needs cement, and Asia’s major cities need coal to fuel their power supply.

There is an estimated 1.6 billion tpa of coal currently supplied to Asia’s smaller Industrial Boiler market, with more than 2 million small boilers scattered across Asia.

India and China, the two fastest growing coal-consuming countries must do all they can to save on precious coal. Coal is their most abundant but challenged fuel resource.

Coal prices are expected to climb as we enter the hot summer months and with much of China experiencing a severe drought - hydroelectric power can be harmed.

How to save on Coal use and save money?
Asia Coal Catalyst Company offers CC-88 Coal Combustion Catalyst to Save on coal usage in India, China and across Asia.

CC-88 is applicable to all types of Coal combustion systems needing to improve energy efficiency. Many of China's aging industrial boiler systems are inhibited by slagging and fouling. As hard carbon deposits on the inside of a boiler the slag inhibits heat transfer, which reduces fuel efficiency.

CC-88 works to soften existing hard carbon deposits and help prevent new slag formation. Ass CC-88 Combustion Catalyst works its way through the boiler system it will help combust wasted carbon fuel that is collecting in the cold end of the boiler. As the cold end soot deposits, soot blowers and other slag removal devices removed remaining soot more thoroughly and efficiently, this also lowers the load on pollution control devices (electrostatic precipitators)

CC-88 will reduce fuel consumption by as much as 5% - 15% percent depending on the type of boiler, the boiler efficiency, the type of coal burned and the thermodynamics of the system.

CC-88 is designed to pay for itself through fuel savings and by helping to significantly reduce costs of boiler maintenance. Poor performing boilers are subjected to unscheduled shutdowns for removal of slag and due to fouling; sometimes resulting in costly equipment repairs.

CC-88 Coal Catalyst improves coal combustion and reduces harmful emission of wasted black carbon fuel (soot). CC-88 Coal Catalyst improves energy efficiency and reduces your operating costs.

Asia Coal Catalyst is dedicated to providing our customers with the least expensive method to burn raw coal in the cleanest and most cost effective method.
CC-88 Combustion Catalyst dramatically improves boiler efficiency by optimizing combustion conditions and improving boiler heat transfer. Return on users investment is achieved by utilizing all available carbon in the fuel, improving equipment performance and lowering operating costs.

Our product, CC-88, is a dry powder that can either be injected into the boiler to provide a catalyst “bed” in the combustion chamber, or it can be fed continuously along with the fuel. In the United States it has been widely used in industrial boilers for central heating systems.

How does Coal Catalyst work? Coal Catalyst CC-88 accelerates the oxidation-reaction of carbon to produce more heat per unit time. Coal Catalyst CC-88 Oxidizes carbon at temperatures lower than normal ignition temperatures, this speeds combustion and thereby reduces
carbon and slag deposits in the colder regions of the boiler.

As a Slag Modifier, CC-88 alters slag deposits to a more friable, softer easy to remove deposit that provides greater heat-transfer and reduces cleaning costs. The catalyst will also acts as an Emission Control Agent that separates sulfur substantially reducing the quantity of sulfur dioxide, an “acid rain” contributor, in the flue gases. Fly Ash reductions also occur when greater amounts of carbon are com busted reducing the loading to the particulate collection devices.

Improving coal combustion efficiencies through a simple and cost effective means such as our Coal Catalyst CC-88 will help conserve valuable fuel resources.

Coal Catalyst also cleans the system of Slagging and Carbon Waste making equipment operate more efficiently with less maintenance costs. Use of Coal Catalyst CC-88 will allow longer and better operation of the older and less efficient boilers equipment. Coal Catalyst CC-88 helps China’s many thousands of inefficient older small and medium sized boilers to run more efficiently and to reduce their pollution.

Return on Investment. CC-88 pays for itself through improvements to the combustion efficiency. CC-88 is designed to enable the many hundreds of thousands of Asia’s small – medium (.5Mwe - 100 Mwe) boilers, the least efficient stoker fired coal burning boilers to burn their precious fuel mush more thoroughly, utilizing more of the available carbon fuel contained in the coal and reducing carbon waste which is currently emitted as harmful carbon filled smoke stack emissions.

Asia has a large system of coal fired boilers under 100 MWe in size that are currently operating at fairly low combustion efficiencies and have slagging and fouling problems. Both of these problems cause excess amounts of pollution to be emitted into the atmosphere and consume greater quantities of coal than is necessary. With the use of our CC-88 Coal Catalyst, more efficient boilers can be obtained and lower levels of pollution can be achieved.
