March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- (EMEYRVILLE, CA – March 3, 2011) – Students representing the Animation & Visual Effects program at Ex’pression College for Digital Arts, one of the premier schools of its kind in the United States, have been selected to participate in an innovative film project through Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival (www.cinemagic.org.uk ).  The project, Internet Whispers, is being developed by a team of animation students from the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) out of Donegal, Ireland, and Ex’pression College and will be completed in March 2011.

Facilitated by Cinemagic, the student teams from Ex’pression College and LYIT, will be linked interactively through the internet to create moving image art and collaboratively produce Internet Whispers, an animated short.  Students from LYIT have already created the first section of this exclusive animation in January 2011, and met with the students at Ex’pression College via video conferencing.  Ex’pression College students are now currently working to create the next section of the animation short, which is being worked on in conjunction with the Cinemagic USA festival. Once completed, Ex’pression students will host another session where the project will be “handed over” in real time to the student at LYIT in the next few weeks in March 2011. Ex’pression students are being led by one of their instructors, Joseph Daniels.

Animation & Visual Effects students Ernesto Carrillo, Sean Cusack, Boryslav Fird, Sebastien Guerne, Daniel Kraft, and Matthew Suggett are all involved in the project from Ex’pression College.  “We are honored to participate in the Internet Whispers project and work collaboratively with other talented animation students from LYIT.  This is truly a team effort and proves that animation and creativity know no boundaries.  Together, on two different continents, we can create an animated short in a concentrated amount of time, using advanced technology and relying on the foundation of our visual art skills, teamwork, and strong communication,” said Andrew Schlussel, program director for Animation & Visual Effects, Ex’pression College.

The project is not only supported by Cinemagic, but also the Donegal County Council.  Terre Duffy, Public Art Manager, Donegal County Council, said, “this is a wonderful opportunity to create new work and cooperate with partners in Donegal and transnationally on an innovative project at the cutting edge of technology.  Internet Whispers provides a unique chance for our students to link with industry professionals and see how the real world of animation operates.”

Once completed, the project can be viewed at www.expression.edu/blog
