March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- No one who has passion of reading is unaware of the name ‘Premchand’, a name that holds a prominent place in the Indian Literature. Even today when new writer and poets have taken up the literary world, the outstanding work of Premchand still shines. He is a known for his great stories, novels, and other literary works mainly in Urdu and Hindi.

This great artist began the journey of his life in a small village situated in the Banaras district. Born in a small village his childhood and youth were marked by severe poverty, being devoid of even the basic necessities of a child. The beautiful age passed by with no joys and happiness but the harshness of poverty could not move him from his path towards success.

He fought all difficulties and pain with strength and courage. Moving on the righteous path he completed his high school examination with flying colors. After that he opted to become a teacher and he started a new journey of his life as a teacher. He preached values, virtues, goodness, and humanity rather than knowledge restricted in the educational books. In the tenure of his teaching profession he was praised and appreciated by that further led him to take the position of Sub-Deputy Inspector of schools.

Further on, he tried his mind on paper that was when he started writing. His mind and heart was so much overfilled with humanity, nationalism, and patriotism that he tried put them on paper with a desire to instill the same within the hearts of all Indians. He wrote small stories, novels, literary books, and much more with his appealing values, creative mind, and a noble heart.

His work was acclaimed and his voice marked a new era of thoughtfulness in the country. He through his outstanding work moved children, youth, and adults emotionally and mentally to a great extent. This also gave a new dimension to Indian Literature as all isolated pieces were brought together to showcase its worth and value to the people of the nation.

Gradually Premchand took up his writing to new horizons and started his own publishing company. This company gave the country some of the most stupendous works in the form of immortal stories that played a significant role in the Indian Freedom Movement.

Premchand’s Seva Sadan, Premasram, Godan, and Rangabhumi are the landmarks in the history of Indian Literature.
