Twenty-Five Years of Building Homes, Communities and Bridges

March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Home Improvement Associates, LLC,  a South Hadley real estate development company is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. Established in 1986 by builders Alan Tabin and Edward Cauley, the business has successfully completed both commercial and residential construction projects over the past twenty-five years.  Its most recent project is Jacob’s Edge Condominiums, located at 26 Jacob’s Way, off Granby Road/RT 202 in South Hadley.  Jacob’s Edge is an intimate 25 home, low-impact community that provides homeowners with direct access to conservation area and opportunities for passive recreation.  Giving back is nothing new to Alan and Ed.  During the construction of Jacob’s Edge, the South Hadley Fire Department was able to practice their fire fighting skills by using the original farmhouse as a practice burn, while making way for the condominium development. The South Hadley Water Dept. has been the beneficiary of dozens of truckloads of fill donated during the excavation of foundations at Jacob’s Edge.  The company has also undertaken projects with the South Hadley Conservation Department to help preserve the Black Steven’s Conservation Area, including ongoing clean up and trail maintenance as well as the construction of a much needed footbridge.  

Alan Tabin and Ed Cauley grew up in Holyoke and have been friends since high school days at Dean Technical High School, then known as Dean Vocational School.  As true entrepreneurs, both worked side jobs independently while still in high school. Due to the volatility of the construction industry and reality of lay-offs in winter months they decided to create their own destiny by forming a business partnership. Relying heavily on word of mouth and some print advertising, their reputation grew quickly and their satisfied customer base expanded. Over the next two decades the company flourished, from repairs and investment property rehabbing, to major commercial and residential renovations then onto real estate development.  According to Cauley and Tabin, “Anything you could possibly do to a home, we’ve done it!  We’ve renovated, repaired, bought, rented, sold, demolished, and built homes.  We even moved one!  In the last 25 years, we’ve survived many economic cycles, and our success is simple - pride and consistency.”

Tabin makes his home in South Hadley with his wife Tricia, and two daughters, Brittany, a student at U-Conn, in Storrs, CT. and daughter, Brianna, currently a senior at South Hadley High School.  Cauley resides in Holyoke with his wife Dina and their four year old daughter Isabella.  A member of the Greater South Hadley-Granby Chamber of Commerce and the Western Mass Home Builders Association, Home Improvement Associates, LLC is committed to providing exceptional service to the local area and to supporting the local community.
