Great this article is a must read if you're looking for quality advice on your network cabling, VoIP, CCTV, wireless, data and fibre optic cabling.

Q) How do I find the right data cabling engineer?

A) Selecting the ideal network cabling enables your IT network to transmit data at the fastest speeds permitted by your data connection. If you have more than one computer or data device, selecting the right network cabling will allow your devices to 'talk' with maximum efficiency. Your data cabling engineer has a number of options to recommend when it comes to the hightest standards of network cabling: Cat6a or Cat5e. The right option depends on your network data transmission speeds, type of data being transmitted, and your speed and data transfer requirements.

Q) How to use Cat5e Ethernet Cable Networking and Data Cables?

A) A decade ago, CAT5e (Category 5e) cables were launched as an upgrade with less data signal loss than Cat5. (data signal loss comes from electri(1)cal interference from other nearby electrical wiring, or the devices the cable was attached to.

Q) How to use Category 6a Network Fibre Data & Voice Cables?

A) Three years ago, a new standard for data cabling was established: Category 6. These are basically the same as CAT5e cables but they transmit at higher frequencies of up to 250 MHz. This is best for faster data transmission speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s! An upgraded version soon came out with Augmented Category 6 (CAT6a) cables, which operate at 500 MHz, effectively doubling the efficiency of data transmission of CAT6 cables. CAT6/6a cables are also required to produce less 'crosstalk' than CAT5/5e cables, meaning less data loss and less reduction in transmission speed. CAT6 cables are also back-compatible with CAT5e cables too!

Q) So which should I choose?

A) Your cable selection will largely depend on your Ethernet network. If you're running a 10GBASE-T Ethernet network, CAT6a cables will the best choice. If your Ethernet is 100BASE-T or 100BASE-TX, CAT5e cables should be enough. If you’re on a 1000BASE-T network, you can go with either option. If speed is your biggest concern, CAT6a cables are our recommended choice. Other points to note will be the layout of your equipment, the layout of your office plan. Confusing yes?  Well that’s where the services of a data cabling engineer will come in.
