March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- There’s now a cost effective alternative to traditional image setters.
Glunz & Jensen iCtP Platewriters use inkjet technology according to Peter Swann, G & J Distribution Channel Manager for the UK and Ireland.
“They use metal plates rather than polyester and there have been over 700 installations,” he says, adding that it’s typically small independent copy shops or printers that choose to buy them.
“The G&J Platewriter takes all the chemicals out of the process and delivers huge savings on plate costs as well as huge improvements in print quality,” he adds.
When Angela Steed from Centrepoint Print & Design in Birmingham invested in a G&J Platewriter she found that she could save a lot of time making plates.
“Now we can run them off when we want to rather than losing a day in dropping off and collecting,” said Angela. “It takes an hour to produce a set of CMYK plates and the quality is fantastic.”
Phil Hughes, MD at Cambridge Print Solutions in Cambridge says that the Platewriter 2000 “is such a simple machine to use”. “As a small company we have a limited budget and this does what we need it to do without us spending mega bucks.”
Rob Pryer, MD of The Printed Word in West Sussex says: “It produces better plates than an £80,000 thermal CtP unit.” He replaced his thermal drum platemaker with a Glunz & Jensen Platewriter because “it was costing too much to make plates”.
