March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- The need to shift refinery product distributions to a more diesel-oriented slate and to reduce residue fuel oil production is a constant global trend in refining. New, cost-effective and commercially proven technologies are required to achieve higher distillate yield and non-distillable conversion. For Russian and CIS Refiners, Residue Upgrading also remains the key challenge.

Due to relatively small investments over the past decades, Russia and CIS is one of the few regions that continue to look at major investment programs in the Downstream sector. The ambitious plans of Lukoil are good example of that.

Delegates of the Annual Russia & CIS Bottom of the Barrel Technology Conference and Exhibition  (BBTC), organised by Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC), will have the opportunity to hear about Lukoil’s plans for its refineries directly from the 1st Deputy Head of Refining & Petrochemicals - Mr. Mikhail Antonov

Russia & CIS BBTC will be held on 13-14 April at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Moscow.

Building on the experience & great success of the past 5 years, Russia BBTC is the only event for Russia and the CIS market dedicated to the latest technology developments and economic trends for upgrading crude oil residues in Russia & CIS.

The event will provide comprehensive and up-to-date overviews of the industry and the bunker fuel markets developments by Euro Petroleum Consultants, Purvin & Gertz  and VNIPINEFT.  There will be presentations from the leading licensor companies – Axens, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil R&E, Shell Global Soultions, KBR, Foster Wheeler and UOP on the latest technologies for Thermal Processes and Hydroprocessing, as well as presentations on the latest developments in catalysts, hydrogen and sulpher management and gasification.

Traditionally the event will conclude with a panel session discussion, in which leading representatives of the main Refineries and Oil companies will answer questions posed by the audience and provide update on their future plans.

“I very much enjoyed the BBTC conference, it had a good balance between networking and technical content,” comments Carel Pouwels, Global FCC Specialist Resid, ALBEMARLE CATALYSTS on his experience at past BBTC events.

Russia & CIS is part of the Annual April Refining, Gas & Petrochemicals Events in Moscow organised by Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC). This year, the week will also include a new, long-awaited event - The Projects Forum, directly before Russia & CIS BBTC (11-12 April in the same venue) which will focus on update and challenges of major downstream projects in progress and those in the pipeline of the leading Russia & CIS companies.

This will be the 8th year when Euro Petroleum Consultants organise events for the refining & petrochemical industries in Russia & CIS. "I’m deeply convinced that EPC’s annual April Conferences can be considered an excellent learning platform for industry professionals and a perfect place for generating new ideas and solutions," comments Anatoly Artukh, General Director of NAFTAN and regular attendee of the EPC Russian events.

Networking opportunities

Being a leading independent consulting company providing advice and assistance through all stages of project analysis and implementation in the downstream industry, Euro Petroleum Consultants (EPC) has the expertise in the subject, which guarantees strong conference programmes.  In addition,  its extensive knowledge, based on over 20 years experience in Russia, CIS and Caspian countries, coupled with the long standing relations with many of the key operating companies, allows it to facilitate introductions between the delegates and create an event that guarantees effective networking with the right people. Organizers believe that this is one of the main advantages of the Russia & CIS events of EPC.

Valery Kouznetsov, Regional Sales Manager of UOP, supports this statement: “EPC's events are certainly the best for the CIS and Baltic States' refining and petrochemical industries.  For me the most value is being able to meet so many clients and partners from Russia and CIS in one place.  It is true that one EPC conference can substitute two months of continuous business trips."
