March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Rangecookers.co.uk reveals shift in colour preferences for range cookers

Rangecookers.co.uk, the UK’s leading online retailer of many well-known and own brand range cookers, is reporting some interesting consumer purchasing trends for 2010 following an analysis of its website data.

Analysis of more than 2,000 online purchases shows a shift in overall colour trends from cream, which has dominated the scene for the past couple of years, to black with 39% of consumers choosing this colour. Stainless steel follows with 33%, then cream with 18% and other colours including silver, red, blue and white accounting for just 10%.

In fuel options, dual fuel leads the way accounting for 67% of all purchases in 2010, followed by electric with 18% and gas with 15%.

In the dual fuel option, stainless steel is the most popular colour accounting for 38% of sales, closely followed by black with 36%, cream with 16% and other colours with 10%.
Black accounts for 45% of all sales of electric range cookers, followed by cream with 21%, stainless steel with 20% and other colours 14%.

For gas models cream is the preferred colour choice accounting for 40% of sales in 2010, followed by black with 34%, stainless steel with 21% and silver with 5%.

Rangecookers.co.uk director Christopher Parker attributes these trend shifts to changing kitchen designs, a population that is more passionate about food and cooking than ever before and in some cases the growth of apartments and new build houses, which run on electric only.

Christopher explains: “It is clear that professional chefs, passionate cooks and foodies everywhere will always choose the dual fuel option above all others, if they have access to gas and electric. We have seen growth in the sale of electric models as a consequence of modern living, the increasing number of apartments and new build houses. We attribute the popularity of black appliances to the trend for bold colours in the kitchen. Any quality range cooker makes a strong statement, but in black the impact is truly inspiring. Our customers certainly think so too and we expect this trend to continue in 2011.”
