Feb. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- A worldwide leader in the installation of Fiber Reinforced Polymer products, Fibrwrap Construction, LP is proud to announce the re-issuance of the ICC- Evaluation Service Report (ESR) for their primary supplier, Fyfe Company, LLC.  This report, ESR-2103, upgraded the Tyfo® Fibrwrap® systems from 2006 to 2009 International Building Code (IBC) compliance.

“We are very pleased to announce this update and that our materials continue to set the standard in the Fiber Wrap market,” said Edward Fyfe, founder of Fyfe Company, LLC.  He went on to say: “This upgrade will allow us to provide architects, engineers and owners with more innovative solutions for structural upgrade of concrete and masonry structures”.

ICC-ES is the United States’ leader in evaluating building products for compliance with code. A nonprofit limited liability company, ICC-ES does technical evaluations of building products, components, methods and materials. The evaluation process culminates with the issuance of reports on code compliance, which are made available free of charge to code officials, contractors, specifiers, architects engineers, and anyone else with an interest in the building industry and construction. ICC-ES evaluation reports provide evidence that products and systems meet code requirements.

To achieve the ESR-2103 and re-issuance, Tyfo® products have been subjected to a series of tests designed to evaluate their structural integrity, durability, fire resistance, flammability and toxicity.  These tests are detailed in the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria (AC) 125.  Based upon the re-issued ESR-2103, the Tyfo® Fibrwrap® system meets or exceeds the requirements for 2009 IBC compliance.

Fibrwrap Construction, LP utilizes the Tyfo® Fiber Wrap system to provide additional strength to concrete and masonry structural elements such as columns, walls, slabs and beams as part of retrofit projects.  When Fibrwrap’s CEO, Heath Carr, learned of the ESR-2103 renewal, he commented: “The key element of any Fiber Reinforced Polymer product is its long-term durability and Fyfe Company’s materials are the most tested and durable Fiber Wrap materials available in the world.”

The Tyfo® systems are used on a variety of structures including bridges, pipelines, buildings, waterfront and at industrial sites.  Fiber Wrap, often referred to as FRP, is a light-weight, high-strength fabric which is saturated with proprietary Tyfo® epoxies to form a composite which can add substantial strength to concrete and masonry.
