Feb. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- (Anchorage, AK)  Friends, alumni and family members from Pacific Northern Academy, Alaska’s premier independent school, showed up in record numbers to help the school and its child-centered mission. The annual auction, held on Saturday night, February 20, 2011, set a new record for fund raising!

The spectacular evening began with two silent auctions, featuring incredible items, including signed Salvador Dali prints, amazing artwork by PNA students, and a signed guitar by the rock group Rush.

Following a luscious dinner of petite filet and red crab, the middle school choir performed a touching rendition of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Circle Game.’ And then it was show time! April Brown, the West Coast’s premier auctioneer, auctioned off over 40 incredible items that included an opportunity to fly in an authentic WWII AT-6 Military Training Aircraft; a VIP package to the 2011 Great Alaska Shootout; a gorgeous sheared mink jacket; a $5,000 gold and diamond shopping spree; a two night skiing adventure, including two nights in Senator Ted Steven’s chalet; and a one week stay in a Hawaiian condo.

It was a truly festive night that also included one lucky raffle winner driving home in a brand new 2011BMW donated by BMW of Anchorage. Centerpieces were also auctioned off, and one happy winner took home a brand new
Apple I-Pad.

Following the auction, all guests were invited to the After Party at the Captain Cook Hotel, which featured dancing and a midnight buffet, wrapping up an elegant evening of fundraising, fun, friendship.

Lisa Maurer, this year’s auction chair, was thrilled with the success of the annual celebration. “April and her team did an outstanding job and we set a new record for fund raising,” Said Lisa.  “And I want to personally thank all of our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly on this event, as well as the amazingly generous sponsors, including Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Center of Alaska, the Alaska Dizziness and Balance Center, Rhyneer Clinic, Avante Medical Center and all of our event sponsors who teamed up to help make PNA’s 15th annual auction the best ever!”

Auctioneer April Brown was impressed with the organization and the creative utilization of volunteers. “Volunteers can make or break an event, and these dedicated volunteers at PNA were the best,” said April. “They came together as a unique community, each knowing their role and responsibility. These volunteers were the best!”

Celebrating nearly 20 years of successful fund raising, April Brown’s Powerhouse Auction Team includes media personalities and auction professionals, including Mike Brown, 710 ESPN Seattle and Neil Scott, Sports Radio 950 KJR, along with actors and auctioneers Pat Cashman, Trick Grant, Keven Snyder, Leo Nofsky, Ian Smith and April Brown. www.charityauctionworld.com
