Modernizing Your Discipline Toolbox for Today's Challenging Child
By: Tracy Dalton

Feb. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Raising and teaching children seems so much more challenging today than we remember from our own perspective from our childhood. Challenging behavior is on the increase and it is requiring teachers to focus more on discipline and less on course work.  In this fun and informative presentation, participants will be educated on why children are stepping into the classroom with more behavior issues and what teachers can begin doing immediately. Using Adlerian theory and Rudolf Dreikurs' principles of behavior, the facilitator will shed some light on the ulterior motivations of today's challenging children in the home and the classroom.  This information will be used to help you "modernize" your teacher (or parent) "discipline toolbox" with 10 tips for creating cooperative kids immediately.  Some of the tips include; replacing audible timers with visual timers, understanding clear differences between rules, agreements, and consequences and how to apply them, the causes of teacher/parent "deafness" in children, implementing the concept of cooperation in the classroom and home, and taking charge of the classroom.

Session Outline:
•10 Irrefutable Facts About Children
•9 Faulty Discipline Tools Used by Adults and Why They Don't Work
•The Tenets of Alfred Adler's Theory of Individual Psychology with Children
