For Bulgaria these targets are 16 per cent and 10 per cent respectively. The bill contains measures for promoting the production of energy from renewable sources with consideration for the impact of the improvement of energy efficiency and the introduction of energy-efficient technologies, the press release says.
The goals and mechanisms of the bill are directed not only towards energy production, which is the focus of the promoting mechanisms in the Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources and Biofuels Act, but also towards the heating, cooling and transport sectors. The new bill retains the principle of obligatory purchasing of energy generated through the use of renewable and alternative energy sources on the basis of long-term contracts and preferential prices, which should be fixed for the whole term of validity of the contract and are determined by the State Energy and Regulatory Commission as indicated by the Ordinance on Electricity Price Formation with the Energy Act
