Feb. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Applied Colors of Beaverton, OR has created an affordable and easy to implement paint touch up system to serve the automotive retailing industry.

"Car dealers overspend on touchup vendors regularly" says owner Robert Keppel.  "They want to do the task in-house by their detail staff but most touch up systems typically start at around $3500.  They're complicated and involve finding paint codes, mixing 8 bottles of paint on a jewelry scale, and ultimately you use only a few drops of paint on the car and throw out the remaining 95%."

The Applied Colors ScratchOut system solves the price and complexity problems of previous paint repair systems with the use of 287 premixed colors that can be blended to form an infinite number of colors to match customer cars.  Roughly 80% of the bottles used in traditional paint systems are consolidated, making the system significantly smaller and therefore more affordable to car dealers at a price of $1095.

The ScratchOut system solves another issue faced by dealers:  training.  It is the only of its kind to include a training DVD and color manual.  "In about an hour, your lead detailer can watch the DVD, read the manual, practice on a few cars, and be ready for in-field work.  He can train the other detailers in about 15 - 20 minutes.  Turnover in detail shops is high, so we wanted to have a really clear and concise teaching system" says Keppel.
