Feb. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Kabul, Afghanistan – December 20, 2010 -- NEDA Telecommunications is still one of the top Internet Service Providers in Afghanistan despite a number of service providers having joined the league of Internet Service Providers in the country since 2002. With the latest CIA Fact File showing that the number of Internet users is now just over 500 000, the market is still open for more ISPs to join although few of them will be able to compete with NEDA Telecommunications.

When asked what sets them apart from other ISPs in Afghanistan another spokes person for NEDA Telecommunications replied “We constantly strive to improve service delivery with the best technologies available. We have added three state-of- the-art satellite earth station facilities in Jalalabad, Kabul, and Mazar-i-Sharif which are all connected to the most advanced platforms available.

We are able to offer SCPC/DVB and SCPC/SCPC backbone connections which are reliable. The coverage from the W5 from Eutelsat and the SESAT II satellites combined with 24 hour manned support are another reason for our outstanding performance in the ISP industry.”

NEDA Telecommunications was the first licensed ISP in the country and although their services were initially limited to dial-up access provision, they soon moved onto more advanced access provision. Their wireless broadband services extended and pretty soon the company covered over 30 Mbps over their networks.

Other players in the ISP field, such as Bentley Walker, are certainly to be reckoned with, but it does not seem to be a problem for the NEDA Telecommunications management. According to a spokes person for the company, “NEDA Telecommunications now also offers WiMAX in Kabul. This has placed us in the top league of ISPs again, ensuring that we keep our competitive edge.”

It remains to be seen how the advances in the cable telecommunication infrastructure will improve Internet access provision in the country. Many of the users are still too poor to afford broadband fast Internet access, but according to NEDA Telecommunications, their pricing structure ensures that home users and small businesses are not left behind even though their focus is mainly medium size business.

If any company is to be the force to be reckoned with in the ISP industry of Afghanistan over the next five years, then it certainly will be NEDA Telecommunications at http://www.neda.af/.
