Feb. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Las Vegas — Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) hosts the Monster Energy $3,500 Triple Air Contest on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011. The event, which takes place in LVSSR’s Darkside Park, is presented by Powder and Sun, a snowboard and skate shop, and is open to male and female ski and snowboard athletes of all ages.  The contest challenges participants to unleash their best tricks on a series of three jumps that range from 45 to 65 feet in height, for a chance to win a piece of the $3,500 prize purse.

The entry fee is $50 plus the cost of a lift ticket.  The event starts at 10 a.m. and registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on event day only.  Contestants have a one-hour practice session prior to the event.   All athletes will be required to wear a helmet during the competition.

“We’ve been very impressed with the level of talent we’ve seen from local skiers and snowboarders at past events this season and we expect the Monster Triple Air to be no different,” says Keith Pfhaler, LVSSR’s special events coordinator. “With a $3,500 cash purse on the line, we’re expecting to see some heavy competition from local athletes as well as skiers and snowboarders traveling in from all over the Southwest.”

Contestants will compete in male/female ski and snowboard categories and will have a three run format to execute jumps which will be judged on magnitude, style, difficulty and landing.  Top male and female competitors will be awarded a cash prize and all registered athletes will have the chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes from Powder and Sun.

Upcoming Darkside Park events:
March 20: Tyrant Snowboard's Spring Time Bash Slop Style
March 27: Tyrant Snowboard's “If you're not first you're last” Boardercross
April 3: Sin City's Spring Time Junk Yard Jam
