SCOMA's Safety Systems for Trains Part of Urban Transport Delegation in Florida this Week

Feb. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- SCOMA is a  leading designer and manufacturer of anti-roll rods for pendular suspension systems, and complete equipped connecting rods for bogies applications: very high speed trains, tilting trains, Intercity and regional trains, commuter trains/metros. SCOMA is part of a French delegation touring three cities in Florida this week from February 21 to 25, 2011, to discover the state's public transit needs.

Since 1933, SCOMA has been designing and producing safety items rated criticality level 1 for rolling stock used on rail networks throughout the world. SCOMA mainly produces stabilizer rods, drag links and anti-roll rods to equip the bogies of some of the world's fastest and most powerful trains. Widely recognized for the 0 ppm of its safety components, SCOMA supplies parts for every application range in the rail sector, whether for passenger or freight trains. As a result, it can easily adapt to the bogie manufacturers’ requirements for OEM parts, or the provision of spare parts to maintenance companies in the American market, a market in which it is keen to establish and expand its presence.

These are all key strengths that this medium-sized French company can draw upon during its dealings with the decision-makers managing the construction of the Tampa-Orlando route section. This first section (which will later be joined by a railway line running from Orlando to Miami), will cover a distance of 84 miles (approximately 135 km). This should open to traffic from 2014, and it is anticipated that trains will travel at up to 168 mph (270 km/h). Competitive tenders will shortly be launched by the State of Florida for this project, and for the SunRail project, a 61.5-mile suburban line intended to serve the Orlando area. This may also be of interest to SCOMA, which has a number of key selling points to help it secure a place in these two major projects. As an example, its rods equipped the French TGV (High Speed Train) which broke the world rail speed record (574.8 km/h) during the V150 operation in April 2007.
