Phoenix, Ariz., February 23, 2011- Intersan Manufacturing, a premiere producer of commercial and institutional restroom solutions worldwide, announced the addition of lead free to it’s highly popular product offering.  This unique offering provides the wash fountain and lavatory market with a much-needed alternative to the available industry products.

With this certification, Intersan Manufacturing can now offer it’s innovative products with a lead free option that will enable installers to meet the standards set by AB 1953 and S.0152.   This standard set by the governmental authorities of California and Vermont set the acceptable lead content of wetted surface area to .25%.  These laws were created as a result of the United States EPA finding that a significant source of lead was a result of water from faucets and plumbing fittings.  In conjunction, the CDC released its findings showing a connection to lead ingested from water leads to problems with development of intelligence and learning among children.

With the recently signed federal legislation and the current California and Vermont laws requiring lead levels to be below one quarter of one percent, we know specifiers will be looking for a manufacturer to have a solution to this growing environmental concern,” stated Wim Hoornaert, General Manager, Intersan Manufacturing.  “When the CDC released its study showing that lead levels had a connection to developmental learning problems in children, we knew that Intersan had to do something about it.”
