“Nessy starts off the book without any memory of what happened in Moon Rising,” Bowler said. “But Charles tries to help her out by providing as much information as he can.”
Charles is forced to eventually give in to Nessy and tell her about her former life and her vampire lifestyle. But Nessy still doesn’t trust the information and has to be returned to the past in order to understand the truth.
“The story really starts taking some turns when Hera takes an unconvinced Nessy to the underworld in order for her to understand her life,” Bowler said. “She returns to the past in the form of Gulon and then meets other Gulons that are awaiting the return of the queen of the underworld.”
Gulons are the special characters in Moon Rising that have the ability to assume a human form whenever they desire. However they can also appear as cat-like creatures that protect humans from vampires like Nessy.
“Little does Nessy know that she is actually Gulon and vampire at the very same time,” Bowler said. “Then the plot really thickens when Nessy has to struggle with the fact that she is actually the queen of the underworld that the Gulons are waiting to return.”
