Illinois Central School Bus assists local vets over holidays

Donation of buses and drivers helps make holidays happier for local service people.

Feb. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- On Christmas day, Illinois Central School Bus assisted the Tinley Park, IL, American Legion Post, in providing a merrier Christmas for 47 recruits from Great Lakes Naval Station.  The following thank you was sent to Mr. Bruce Barr, Illinois Central CEO, and his volunteers, as well as other contributors:

Dear Contributor,

The American Legion Post 615 and Post 398 would like to thank you for your support.  47 recruits from Great Lakes Naval Station arrived by bus, donated by Illinois Central School Bus, at 10 a.m. Christmas Day.  Volunteers gladly gave up their cell phones for the day so the recruits could call family and friends, also 10 laptops were put to good use as they never were unoccupied surfing the internet on Facebook, Twitter, and watching YouTube.  There were gaming systems and a big screen TV for entertainment.  They enjoyed a very good Christmas dinner around 1 p.m with plenty of deserts.

They enjoyed themselves very much, with comments like "this was the best Christmas I ever had."  Without your generous donation, none of this would have happened.  Every recruit was given a $30 phone card to take with them, since they weren't allowed to take anything else.  They got back on the bus just before 5 p.m. and back on base around 6:30.  We are looking forward to being able to do it again next year, ans would like to count on your generous support.

Jim Taylor, Jr. Vice Commander, Americann Legion Post 615
