Richard Garriott to Kick-Off St. Louis ACG 2011 Mid-America Corporate Growth Conference

LOUIS – Richard Garriott, noted entrepreneur and astronaut, will be the opening keynote luncheon speaker when the St. Louis, Kansas City and Nebraska Chapters of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) host the first annual ACG 2011 Mid-America Corporate Growth Conference on Wednesday and Thursday, May 11-12, 2011 at the Hilton at the Ballpark located in downtown St. Louis at Market and Broadway. Expected to draw over 500 attendees, the conference, with its theme, “Now What? Finding New Roads to Growth,” is designed primarily for corporate executives, private equity firm executives, investment bankers, lenders, and service professionals who are influential in corporate growth decision making, development and mergers and acquisitions.

Don Ficken, President of TrainingDepartment.com and President-Elect of ACG St. Louis, ACG’s  “Chapter of the Year” for 2010, and Phil Worden, Senior VP of Bank of America, Merrill Lynch in Kansas City and member of ACG Kansas City, are Conference Chair and Vice Chair, respectively..

Richard Garriott is an award-winning computer game pioneer and adventurer. Most recently, he co-founded Portalarium, a game developer and publisher focused on advancing the state of gameplay in social networking environments. In October of 2008, Richard, the son of American astronaut Owen Garrett, realized a lifelong dream when he travelled aboard the Russian Soyuz TMA-13 spacecraft to the International Space Station and became the first second-generation astronaut.

“Richard's story is one of adventure, risk, and reward,” explains Ficken. “His enthusiasm,  passion, and entrepreneurial spirit will bring an optimistic, uplifting tone to get our conference started.”

All attendees will enjoy outstanding business networking opportunities with executives from across the country. Speakers and panel presentations are part of the rich corporate-focused programming. Running on a parallel program track, opportunities for private equity and intermediaries to find deals and sources of funding will be provided at Capital Connection and DealSource events.

Setting the stage for an intense networking experience between deal sources and senior partners of exhibiting private equity funds, ACG Capital Connection takes deal making to the next level on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. using a trade-show format.

The ACG DealSource will be held on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at nearby Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals. Pre-arranged meetings between intermediaries, private equity groups and corporate dealmakers take place in individual private luxury suites hosted by investment banks.
