Feb. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- iliterati.com, the online social network for aspiring authors and readers searching for new writing, has been live almost a month.

During it's first month iliterati has developed into a small but growing community of like-minded people who belive that the site can harness advances like the kindle to do for authors what myspace and mp3 did for music.

Site founder Dave Connors said "iliterati is part of the trend of disintermediation. Authors don't need to hope their manuscript is appreciated by an overworked, underpaid manuscript reader in an agent's or publisher's office. They don't need to suffer from tiny print runs and miniscule marketing budgets caused by over-cautious publishers and booksellers. They can take control of their writing career today, and get their work out to the public."

Reflecting on iliterati's first month online, Connors commented "The first Month has been steady but unspectacular, but we are continuing to attract new users. Especially pleasing is that we have attracted users to sign up as readers, when so far we have concentrated on advertising our servcies to aspiring authors. This shows there is definite demand for new writing that aspiring writers can tap into via iliterati."
