Feb. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- LotusWorks this week supported “Engineers week” by hosting twenty secondary school pupils from Ursuline College and St Mary’s Ballisodare at their offices in Marino House, Finisklin Business Park, Sligo, Ireland.

The event entitled “Challenging young minds” consisted of twenty students participating in three team challenges which took place over a four hour period. This LotusWorks event was organised specifically to support Engineers Week, which is a week long programme of nationwide events with the aim of celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland.

This internationally owned company, set up by Sligo man Fergal Broder has supported Engineers Week for the past three years by designing challenges for secondary level students interested in Engineering. Working with Seamus Lee in the Sligo branch of Engineers Ireland Association and Diarmuid Timmons from ITSligo, the company invited students to participate by working in teams to achieve engineering related design tasks.
Speaking at the event Fergal Broder CEO LotusWorks commented: “Engineers week is a terrific initiative, providing students with the opportunity to get an understanding for the many and varied career paths Engineering presents. We hope our support leads students to give engineering serious consideration as a career choice”.

The aim of Engineers week is to create positive awareness and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession to people of various ages with little or no engineering background. This is the fifth successive year the week has been organised and there are over 150 events taking place nationwide with a total of 17,000 participants in activities nationwide in 2010.
