Feb. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- WADE will discuss DE Benefits & Obstacles at South East European EE in April

Sofia, Bulgaria will host the 7th South East European Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Congress & Exhibition during 13-15 April 2011. David Sweet, from the World Alliance for Decentralised Energy (WADE) will speak and moderate the session for Energy Efficiency and Decentralised Energy. He will overview global decentralised energy technologies, benefits and opportunities, showing how decentralised energy reduces energy costs and CO2 emissions.

WADE works on high efficiency cogeneration, onsite power and decentralised renewable energy, substantially benefitting economies and the environment. The organisation has studied possible savings from regional and national DE investment. Their results suggest that DE reduces capital investment costs for electricity, and lowers retail costs for consumers. According to WADE, many of the most problematic obstacles facing DE investors are regulatory or policy related rather than technical.

DE reduces distances for electricity transmission. The network losses are 9.5% of global electricity supply in 1999 according to the IEA. This equals the total electricity demand of Germany, the UK and France, and is a colossal waste of energy. Conventional energy produces most of the world's polluting emissions. The wider use of DE can also positively impact health on at least two levels.

Thomas Stenhede represents Wärtsilä Power Plants, Sweden: a leading supplier of power plants for the decentralised power generation market. Thomas will speak about the combustion engines in CHP-systems. Wärtsilä is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Helsinki, Finland. This session will also present the Netherlands’ Dorset Green Machines.

15 speakers from 10 countries will lead the Waste-to-Energy session on the second day. A highlight will be Solar Balkans: the first PV b2b forum.

The parallel expo will have over 200 stands, with leading manufacturers and service providers like Enercon, Fronius, Vestas, Sun Energy Europe, Yuwi,  Hyundai, KPV Solar, Global Wind Power, Franki Grundbau, and Eurosol. Joining local delegates will be groups from Austria, Germany, Finland, Spain, Slovenia, USA and China.
