In order to participate in Live Free, homebuyers must first qualify with a financial institution, most of which are continuing to offer fantastic rates, says Daniell. “Our hometowns are carrying for as little as $792 a month which is less than what many people pay in rent,” he says, noting that 85 per cent of homebuyers who took advantage of the KISS program in 2010 opted for a 35-year amortization, an opportunity that will only exist until mid-March when banks are slated to roll back to a 30-year amortization. “This is a great way to get your foot into the door of a new home, but the window of opportunity is closing,” said Daniell.
