Abrams Fensterman Announces New Practice Areas Added in 2010

Despite the financial challenges which most of us faced in 2010, Abrams Fensterman held firm to its pre-existing business plan and expanded the scope of legal services which it provides to its clients.  During  2010, the firm recruited highly accomplished attorneys to lead these important new departments:

•   Corporate and Securities Law- Neil Kaufman, Esq. joined the firm to head its Corporate and Securities Law Department.  Mr. Kaufman represents public and private companies ranging from emerging growth companies to middle market companies in connection with equity and debt financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters.

•   Employment Law - Sharon Stiller, Esq. joined the firm to head its Employment Law Department.  Ms. Stiller advises businesses and executives about labor law compliance; federal and state labor department audits; and employment matters, including state and federal discrimination, contract, confidentiality, non-compete, and similar claims.  

•   Immigration Law - Reaz Jafri, Esq. joined the firm to head its Immigration and Nationality Law Department.  Mr. Jafri has nearly 20 years of experience advising large, multi-facility health care providers, research foundations, American businesses, multi-national companies, foreign investors and high-net worth individuals on all aspects of immigration law and regulatory compliance.  

•   Bankruptcy Law - Deborah Piazza, Esq. joined the firm to head its Bankruptcy Law Department.  Ms. Piazza's practice is concentrated on complex transactional, litigation and advisory work relating to various types of restructurings, commercial finance, chapter 11 bankruptcies, and workouts.  

GOVERNOR PATERSON APPOINTS MANAGING PARTNER OF ABRAMS FENSTERMAN TO N.Y.S. PUBLIC HEALTH AND HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL

Toward the end of 2010, our managing partner, Howard Fensterman, was appointed to the newly formed Public Health and Health Planning Council (PHHPC) by New York State Governor David A. Paterson. The Public Health Council (PHC) and the State Hospital Review and Planning Council (SHRPC) were consolidated into the Public Health and Health Planning Council (PHHPC) on December 1, 2010.

ABRAMS FENSTERMAN ANNOUNCES A NEW LINKAGE BETWEEN THE LAW FIRM'S MENTAL HEALTH LAW PRACTICE AND CAMPUS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RISK CONSULTANTS (CBHRC)

Campus Behavioral Health Risk Consultants is a consulting firm formed by Carolyn Reinach Wolf, Esq., the head of our Mental Health Practice Group.  CBHRC deals with many of the issues that arise in the context of helping individuals and families with mental health and substance abuse problems. The new affiliation between CBHRC and our firm is in response to the significant increase in mental health and substance abuse issues arising in lower and higher education settings in recent years. The law firm's new affiliation with CBHRC will enable Abrams Fensterman to broaden the scope of the mental health services which it offers to those students and families in need of such expertise.
