March 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Oakton, VA —Mosaic Harmony, an interfaith, multicultural community choir, is pleased to announce that they have been selected to participate in the 2011 DC Intersections Arts Festival - A New America Arts Festival at the historic Atlas Performing Arts Center on H Street NW in Washington DC.   The concert will be part of the finale to the festival and will take place on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Lang Theatre.

The concert features a compilation of songs ranging from traditional and contemporary African-American gospel to music written by their dynamic and talented director .  The theme of “One Humankind” is the title of the latest song added to the choir’s repertoire and speaks directly to its mission of unifying the world one song at a time.  “In the wake of the difficult wars in two countries, the political uprisings in the Middle East, economic distress for families and companies, we believe that the message of one humankind is needed more than ever”, said director David North, who wrote the song specifically for Mosaic Harmony to perform.  Added North, "it works beautifully with the theme of DC Intersections and how the cultural crossroads meet in music and beyond".   Scheduled to perform during the same time is gospel group Traditions of which North is also a member.

Mosaic Harmony's concerts are high-energy, inspiring performances that leave its audiences feeling uplifted and encouraged.  Bringing together people of diverse cultures, ages, backgrounds, and more than 17 faith traditions to celebrate humanity is Mosaic Harmony’s vision to be a source of inspiration on a local, national, and global level.

Their performances have provided encouragement and hope to families in hospice care, residents of mental health facilities, residents living in retirement communities, and to the public for 18 years.  The choir’s season began in September with its most recent performance for the staff at Washington Hospital Center celebrating the legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 14, 2011.

Tickets for DC Interssections are currently available online through www.intersections.org and are expected to sell out quickly.   For more information on the choir, performance schedule or rehearsals, visit the website at www.mosaicharmony.org or contact Janet Pressler, concert coordinator at concerts@mosaicharmony.org
