Feb. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- Envac UK Ltd, the UK’s only underground vacuum waste management system, welcomed government officials from the world’s ninth largest country, Kazakhstan, earlier this week during a one-day best practice tour of the UK.

The purpose of the visit was to explore the future of waste management and learn how global organisations are succeeding in dramatically increasing recycling levels at the same time as reducing carbon emissions.

In a bid to understand how automated vacuum waste systems can benefit densely populated developments, Almaz Kalmykov, Director of the Waste Management Department at the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, requested to visit Wembley City’s Forum House. The 4,000 unit development was the first Envac system to be installed in the UK in 2007 and has reduced carbon emissions generated by waste collection vehicles by 90 per cent.

The Kazakhstani minister was joined by Musabayev Ibraikhan Musabaevich, General Director of Ibraikhan and Co, one of the country’s largest household and industrial waste management specialists.

Following the visit, Almaz Kalmykov pledged to take lessons learned back to Kazakhstan and said: “Envac has clearly revolutionised the way in which waste is handled, processed and recycled. In doing so, it has set exceptionally high waste management standards on a global level. Developing effective approaches to waste management is imperative for Kazakhstan’s future from a financial and environmental perspective. Innovative organisations such as Envac are providing Kazakhstan with greater knowledge that we can use to drive our own waste management strategy forward.”

The tour provided the international envoy with the opportunity to explore how the Envac system works, how waste is sucked up to speeds of 70mph through distances as long as 2km and how individual waste streams are separated by diverting valves  and delivered to a central point.

Julian Gaylor, Managing Director of Envac UK Ltd, added: “It is an honour to showcase the Envac system and demonstrate best practice to other countries. Envac has established itself as a modern alternative to traditional waste collection and demonstrated success in twenty countries worldwide. Systems such as Envac are becoming increasingly important with respect to global sustainability targets so it is important that we share best practice wherever possible in order to help achieve these common goals.”

Envac is a global leader in the vacuum waste collection industry and invented the automated underground vacuum waste system.

The first vacuum system was installed in 1961 and the systems can now be found all over the world in residential areas, business premises, town centres, industrial kitchens, hospitals and airports.

Envac was launched in the UK in 2007 when its automated waste management system was integrated into the prestigious Wembley City, a development by Quintain Estates and Development PLC. The system manages the waste of more than 4,000 residential units at Wembley City. Envac has reduced carbon emissions generated by waste collection vehicles by 90 per cent and significantly reduced the amount of traffic on the roads.

Envac has 35 offices in 20 countries in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Asia.
