Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope
Just bought this as a gift for my high-school sophomore girl. I spent a lot of their time comparison shopping on-line. Ordered them via Amazon, and it arrived in just a couple days. Two boxes. Took me rather longer to set it up than others with posted here, but screwing together the base pieces was with relative ease, and then mounting the tube towards base was a snap. i'm keen the handle, as it causes it to be more portable, although it holds bulky and I am still focusing on the best method for carrying it outdoors each night regarding our family sky-watching. Anyway, I like it so far. we bought the 3x Barlow lens too. We started using it during the new moon phase, and Saturn was out. Very cool to find Saturn's rings so clearly. Then last night we used it to observe the half-moon, and all i'll say is...WOW! I felt like i had been orbiting the moon and looking down from 60 miles. you will see shadows of individual craters, as well as the clarity is amazing. Very crisp image. The 3x Barlow truly enhances the view, and seriously magnifies well.
