By: Mosaic Publicity Canine Partners, which provides specially trained dogs for people with disabilities, is the school’s chosen charity for this academic year. In the latest fundraiser, 32 year eight girls paid £10 each for an overnight sleepover in the school hall whilst playing games, taking part in quizzes and watching DVDs. Science teacher and organiser Alison Tew said: “St Mary’s School is committed to helping charities and the girls are inspired by what Canine Partners do. The dogs came along too which meant the girls could see that they were raising money for a very worthwhile cause.” Since the start of the academic year, pupils and staff have raised almost £2,000 for the charity, with £1,000 raised through a fancy dress cross country race in October and more events planned between now and the summer break. Miss Tew added: “Canine Partners will appeal to any animal lover. The charity trains dogs to assist disabled people, meaning they are able to have a better quality of life. After the success of this sleepover we’re looking into organising another one for a different age group and we have a fun dog show at the summer fete planned too.” St Mary’s School has been praised by education inspectors for its unique atmosphere and excellent academic achievements. As the only independent girls’ school in North Essex, it prides itself on offering a special educational experience for pupils aged four to 16, where every student is encouraged to attain their very best. # # # Mosaic Publicity is one of the largest and most successful PR and marketing agencies in East Anglia, delivering creative campaigns for our clients.
