The Sustainable Relocation Promise enables HCR to provide greener relocations to its clients. HCR take the financial burden of this promise and do not charge any of these costs to our clients. Each client is provided with a certificate with a unique reference number to enable them to track their tree's progress online. Even the certificates are eco-friendly – printed on paper made from sheep’s poo!
This year HCR have teamed with Basingstoke and Deane Borough council to ensure their local community benefit from the promise. HCR will be aligning with the council’s woodland strategy, planting trees to create a wildlife corridor between the Crabtree Plantation and the fenland in the Old Basing area of Basingstoke. All the trees have been grown from seed gathered in Hampshire, and will include a range of trees.
Wildlife corridors are hugely important for towns like Basingstoke as they allow wildlife to migrate between habitats that have been isolated by development, roads and urban infrastructure.
The area is home to one of Britain’s extremely rare butterflies, the white-letter hairstreak. Great crested newts and dormice also inhabit the area, both of which are protected species.
HCR Managing Director, Andrew Finney commented "HCR remains committed to the environment and the local community. We have received feedback from around the world since launching our Sustainable Relocation Promise and we continue to lead the industry in tackling the growing threat of climate change. Last year we launched the Promise, this year we will begin to build the HCR Forest!”
