Action for our Planet speaks out against Dennis Basso's fur obsession

Animal advocacy organisation speaks out against Dennis Basso after the New York Fashion designer's fur filled fashion show.

Feb. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- New York fashion designer, Dennis Basso certainly didn't tone down his love of fur at New York Fashion week. Almost the entire Fall 2011 collection consisted of coats, bags and skirts made from animal fur. Basso, known for his extravagance, used a variety of different animal furs in a failed attempt to make his designs seem exotic and luxurious. As many animal lovers know, nothing is exotic, fashionable or indeed luxurious about clothing made from dead animals.

Animal advocacy organisation, Action for our Planet (AFOP) will be holding Twitter protests in the near future to urge Basso to end his excessive use of animal furs. However, Dennis Basso is unlikely to back off so easily, as he profits significantly from selling real animal furs. In an interview with the New York Observer, Basso is quoted as saying  “I was drawn into the fur business ... because I loved the fact that something could cost thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars!”.

Action for our Planet's founder Oli Dillon Squire said ‘‘Even people, like Basso, deep rooted in their ways and seemingly unwilling to back down can sometimes be persuaded to listen to the demands of consumers’’.
