Laveen Community Pancake Breakfast

There's a whole lotta flippin' going on...or at least there is going to be.  Riverbend Prep Elementary school, a Charter K--6 school in Laveen Arizona is planning a pancake breakfast and are inviting the entire community.

On February 26, 2011 from 8 AM to Noon there will be food, games, prizes, and other events at the school in hopes that the community will come out and get to know one another.  "We've only been here for a few years, and this year is our first year with a PTSO.  We really want to show the community that not only are we here for their children's education, but we are really a part of the bigger family that is Laveen."  Says PTSO President, Tamara Hancock.

The idea came from Bisquick and their Pancake the Nation fundraisers.  They provide a portion of the food for the school to cook and serve for their fund-raising efforts.  With help from a grant from Bisquick, the school expects to be able to serve at least 1000 people on the day of the breakfast.

"It really is an amazing opportunity, and a fun idea for a fundraiser.  In addition, we get the chance to serve our community with a fun event for their families." Says Hancock.

In addition to the flapjacks, a bounce house for the kids and other games, the school has opened up to local business owners to showcase their business as well.  "Many of our parents own businesses, as well as many local business owners have shown a great deal of support to our school over the years.  Laveen is a small community, but a big family.  We are all working together for a better neighborhood."  Booths are available for only $10.00.  Businesses already taking part include Massage Envy of Avondale, LA Fitness, and ZADYBall.
