Feb. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Advanced Micro Peripherals has introduced two high performance H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10 AVC) frame grabber / video codec boards for the PC/104-Plus and mini PCI markets - both supporting 4 analog input channels with full frame rate video acquisition at full resolution NTSC / PAL image size. H.264 based video codec technology offers significantly improved compression and video quality at lower bit rates and is quickly becoming the standard of choice for new digital video recorder and video streaming applications.

Both video codec cards are supported by comprehensive software development kits (SDKs) for x86 based Windows and Linux platforms (support for ARM platforms and RTOS solutions such as QNX are available on request). The SDKs include a huge selection of function calls to simplify the process of capturing, previewing, annotating and storing video in a variety of modes. The SDKs include libraries, drivers and example applications – all designed to save you time and money during the critical application development phase. Both modules include integrated motion detection hardware on all channels, a 4 channel audio encoder (G.723) along with a video and audio decoder for local playback.

These products have been designed for remote monitoring and situation awareness applications in defense, traffic management and automated inspection equipment. Both the microH264-D4 and VCODEC-H264-D4 cards are available with extended temperature range options (-40°C to +85°C) and a commitment to 5 year availability.
