Sony and Foxconn Will Jointly Build a World Largest LCD TV in China

Feb. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Set aside the report of Apple’s comment on Foxconn after several months of assessment which says that Foxconn has made effort to save lives and prevented suicides. It is some sort of positive news for this Apple’s major and long-term business partner.

And here is the new that Foxconn combined with Sony is going to set up a major LCD TV plant which will produce around 30 million units of TV and provide 50,000 with working positions at the initial step, making it becom the world largest LCD TV plant ever.

Foxconn is the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, and it's size often puts it in the spotlight. In addition to Apple products, it assembles the PlayStation 3 for Sony, the Wii for Nintendo, PCs for Hewlett-Packard and Dell, and mobile phones for Nokia. Foxconn is the trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry, which operates a number of companies under the umbrella of the Foxconn Technology Group.

It is said that this plant will be locate in Yantai city, Shandong providence, northern China. Yantai is geographically close to Japan, giving it a shipping advantage to clients in Japan. The plant is also expected to land orders from China-based TV vendors such as Haier and Hisense, the report noted.

The plant will be located at an industrial park developed by Foxconn in 2004, the report indicated. The park mainly produces handsets, PCs, molds and a small volume of LCD TVs, and is currently Foxconn's second-largest production base in China next its one in Shenzhen.

The city government has confirmed the project.
